Labor Day Retreat 2008

Join us for an incredible time together starting off this new school year in a cool & exciting way!

August 30 - 31, 2008 @ Linden Valley Conference Center

Featuring: Tim Morrison and James Thiele …as well as Bible Study, Group Rec, Family Groups, Worship, Snack Shack, and More!!

Buses will be leaving from church at 6:45 AM on Saturday. We will return to church on Sunday at 10 PM.

Cost is $100 and includes: 1 night lodging, transportation, all meals, and a T-shirt First 

($80 for each additional student per family)

WHAT TO BRING

» Bible, Pen and Notebook
» Sleeping Bag / Sheets and pillow
» 2 towels
» Toiletries
» Tennis Shoes
» Casual clothes, shorts and T-shirts (sleeves required for meals/worship)
» one set of clothes that could get dirty
» Flashlight and bug spray
» Spending money for Snack Shack (no more than $10)
» Sunscreen
» Bathing Suit (one piece for girls. modesty is our policy)
» Required medications -(check in with Nurse)

WHAT TO LEAVE AT HOME

» video game devices
» Alcohol, drugs, tobacco or firearms
» Jewelry or valuables
» Squirt guns, water balloons, etc.
» Skateboards or inline skates

OPTIONAL

» iPods are allowed but can only
   be used during free time

We will also need a medical release form for your student for 2008.  If we do not have a medical form on file, please click here to complete this formPlease note that this form must be notarized and returned to us before departure on Saturday, August 30. A notary is available at the church office during normal office hours, but a notary will not be present on Saturday morning.

Travel Schedule

Saturday, August 30 – Be sure to eat breakfast before you come!
6:45 AM Meet at First Baptist Nashville in the foyer outside the sanctuary, 7th Avenue Entrance. Turn in forms/money at the long table in the foyer.
9:00 AM Arrive at Linden Valley Conference Center, Linden, TN

Sunday, August 31
8:00 PM Depart from Linden Valley Conference Center
10:00 PM Return to First Baptist Nashville, McGavock Entrance

Snack Shack

The Snack Shack will be setup at certain times throughout the weekend for students to buy snacks/drinks. If your student had a balance remaining on his/her camp debit card (and many did), it will be credited to Labor Day. Additional debit cards can be purchased/more money added on Saturday morning.

Tubing/Kayaking

Several students have signed up for tubing or kayaking on the Buffalo River during afternoon recreation. The cost is $9/person for tubing and $10/person for Kayaking for 2 hours. Linden Valley provides 2 certified lifeguards for each tubing/kayaking group in addition to the adult counselors we will provide. Please check with your student concerning whether he or she is signed up. The $9/10 can either be added to the payment for Labor Day or sent as cash with your student to Labor Day retreat.

Medication

If your student is presently taking any medications on a regular basis or if he/she has special medication for emergencies please let our camp nurse know of this situation. Tina Foust is a professional nurse who will be serving as our medic for the retreat. She will be available on Saturday morning to collect any medication / information at the Welcome Center Desk in the foyer.
