Our students helped lead worship at First Baptist Church in Hartselle, Alabama, on Sunday morning, which is Mary Fowler's grandparents' church. The congregation was extraordinarily welcoming and they had wonderful facilities. The sanctuary was full and our students, as usual, did a superb job. The service was broadcast on a local TV station, so our students were able to see the recording on the bus ride home. Our gracious hosts at FBC Hartselle prepared for us one of the best meals we had on the trip, and even put out fresh flowers on the tables for us. One of our hostesses commented that they wanted the teenagers to know how special they are.

After making a stop at the Tennessee Welcome Center just across the state line, we arrived back at FBC Nashville at 3:00 PM. The highlight of the afternoon was Craig's long-awaited appearance. We were all grateful that he could be a part of the home concert.

The home concert was a memorable and emotional event in light of Mark Edwards' upcoming retirement after nearly 30 years of service at FBC. The students honored God and honored Mark's legacy as our Minister of Music through their worship leadership during the concert. Near the end of the concert, the seniors presented Mark with two framed gifts. The first was a photo of the seniors with Mark in New Orleans, and all the seniors had signed the mat. The second frame featured a program from Mark's first choir tour, a program from this year's tour, and Mark's favorite hymn.

As the concert drew to a close, Mark invited Chapel Choir alumni to come to the choir loft to join the current choir members in singing the final anthem, "Wings of the Dawn." What an amazing sight and sound! Mark and the choir received a standing ovation at the conclusion of the concert.

Everyone made their way down to Fellowship Hall after the concert for hamburgers, hot dogs, and ice cream, and then we watched the Choir Tour/Mission Trip video that Lacy had labored over throughout the day - including on the bus ride home. As usual, Lacy had done an extraordinary job of highlighting a memorable trip.

Thank you, church family, for your ongoing support of the Student Ministry at First Baptist Nashville. We appreciated your prayers as we carried out the task of Building Bridges, Bringing Hope" on the 2007 Choir Tour-Mission Trip.
