On Thursday our older students continued their work at the two houses on Alvar Street. Our Habitat supervisors commented that our group gets more done in a half a day than most groups get done in a full day. They said our students follow instructions well, are willing to learn new skills, know the importance of finishing a task, and have become very proficient with power tools! Today it is was obvious how much progress our group has made on these two homes during our short time in New Orleans.
Our younger students were transported several blocks away from the Alvar Street site to take inventory of the supplies in another one of Habitat's storage containers. Philip Owens organized their efforts well, and the students efficiently got the job done.
We ate lunch on the busses en route to Celebration Church's day camp, where we were able to conduct our sports camp for a second time. The day campers were excited to see our students again and seemed to enjoy all the activities our group had planned for them.
After we eat dinner tonight at our home away from home, we will head to First Baptist New Orleans for a citywide rally. Pray that God will renew our strength as we prepare for our final day of mission work on Friday.
