Junior High Mission Trip
[SEE PHOTOS FROM 2004 or 2005]We take a weekend trip in the spring to a major city within a three to four hour drive of Nashville. Our students have opportunities to do door-to-door surveying in neighborhoods, work with inner-city children, serve meals to the homeless, and participate in many other mission work experiences. This is a great chance to introduce our junior high students to missions and help them understand they really can make a difference. The Junior High Mission trip is offered each year for students in grades 7 and 8.
High School Mission Trip
[SEE PHOTOS FROM 2002]Our High School mission trip is a weeklong mission experience in the summer to a major U.S. city. We have been to places such as Detroit, Chicago, Washington D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, and Maine. This trip gives our students a broader view of what God is doing in our country and allows them to see the opportunities of serving as a "home" missionary. The High School Mission trip is offered each year for students in 9th-11th grade who complete 12 hours of training.
Senior International Mission Trip
[SEE PHOTOS FROM Italy 2002, Hawaii 2003, India 2004, Germany 2005]Our Senior International trip is a two-week mission experience to an international city. We've worked in places like Hungary, Switzerland, Italy, Brazil, Israel, Australia, Russia, Hawaii and India. This mission trip serves as a type of "final-exam" for everything we pray our students have learned in the Student Ministry. The entire experience makes a life-long impact on our students. It gives them a "world-view" of God and His work and allows them to see opportunities for serving Him with their life. Our Senior International Mission trip is offered each year for our graduating seniors who complete 9 months of training.
On-going Missions
In addition to mission trips outside Nashville, we also participate in local missions year-round. Our local mission projects are coordinated by a team of students known as SPLASH. Splash strives to share God's love by creating and participating in community service projects that not only aid in people's physical needs, but also their spiritual needs. It provides unique opportunities for our students to serve in Nashville, each finding creative ways he or she can use his or her spiritual gifts and be leaders in the community. SPLASH participates in such projects as tutoring underprivileged children, "Leaf Rapture" - raking the yards of the elderly, Church-wide ministry Day, working at Trevecca Health Care Center, running water stations at marathons in Nashville and many other mission opportunities. For more information about any of our mission opportunities, please E-mail us at students@firstbaptistnashville.org.
